It was noted that the well known minicolours.co.uk website had been down for a while so I took it upon myself to put together a vamped up replacement.

The website only went up last night (3/4/2011) and was put together in a week so there are some more features on the way, notably a search page which will go up some time this week.

There will no doubt be some codes missing from the Classic Mini section, and I havent entered any at all for the BMW Mini yet. If someone could point me in the direction of a list of BMW paint colours, or scan and email me swatch colours that would be great.

The site allows you to add new codes (which will go live after I confirm them) and the big key feature is that you can add pictures of your minis so that people can see the colours in the 'flesh', the more pictures the better as all colours look different in different pictures.

If you think I have made a mistake on any paint information or have further information to add then there is a 'Dispute Details' button against each paint code for you to inform me of any changes required.

Have a look, let me know what you think, I'm open to suggestions.

Please feel free to add them! I spent hours typing in 185 colour codes from a British Layland paint swatch sheet and thought that was a good base to get the site going. I know full well ALL the paints possible are not there which is why I have opened it to owner contributions.

Its quicker to add the paint to the site than come back to TM and post up that its missing *wink*

Apparently Champagne is 'Grey' as its an L code (LMK), and L's are grey, according to the swatch sheets anyway.

Shropshire.

Good work - i will add in Yukon grey when i get a chance

Also it would be good if you can add a search function - say if you know the colour name but not the code or vise versa

edit: sorry just noticed that you intend to add a search function

Cheers Mark, yea my eyes were going a bit square yesterday adding the all the codes so having a day off from it today and I'll start a search page tomorrow.

If anyone has access to paint swatches that they can scan and email to me that would be great, big thanks to pieter who scanned the swatches that I have added so far.

I've just added another 102 paint codes.

If anyone has paint swatches they are willing to scan and send to me please get in touch.

I would say there is more than a good chance a lot of the colours didnt appear on the mini, however at this time its better to have more than any missing ones, after a few months I will start archiving off any that dont have pictures and use that logic that they werent mini colours.

Hopefully you can all find your paint code now to upload your pictures.

Search page is under way.

I have discovered (and now fixed) an issue with picture files being to big, if they are over 2mb they will not upload correctly, this is a restriction on the server.

I have now fixed this in as much as you will get a friendly error telling you if you file is too big rather than lulling you into thinking that the upload has worked.

The issue has only affected 3 people who have uploaded, your pictures have failed and will need uploading again, I appologise for the inconvenience but thank you for finding my error!

The three pictures affected were uploaded to Silver Leaf MET, Atlantic Blue and Speedwell Blue.

Still working on the search page, but in the mean time I still need pictures of your cars.

The website now ranks at the top of google.co.uk and google.com for nearly every classic mini paint code, eg http://www.google.co.uk/search?q=blvc641 this means that even with just a one word (paint code) search the site is getting hit a lot so now we just need to make it a more useful resource with more images and accurate data so the people visiting have something to see.

please keep contributing and bear with me for more features, there is a lot going on behind the scenes (to get google rankings etc) that may not appear to be so obvious on the site itself.
