they unf,

I cant remember what the ARP's look like off hand, but the std A+ nuts are multipoint so a 6 sided socke wont go on, you need a 12 sided one like the ring end of most spanners.

Multi point heads, and ARP do Metric and UNF/UNC

which bolts? Big ends? which rods?

More info

Halfords do a reasonable range of multipoint sockets, not sure they still do the imperial sizes though.

So when some joey comes on here about how his 16v turbo vauxhall is great compared to ours, he can be given the 'bird'...

7/16 comes to mind. I'm sure that I use a deep 11mm socket to nip them up first.

Multipoint as above.

In the 13's at last!.. Just

My non cooper s arp rod bolts have a hex head, not a multi point. steel rods use multipoint head bolts.

I asked the question as to what bolts since JT asked about bolts, not nuts, and mentioned multipoints rather than hex. These may not be rod bolts, might be the thermostat housing kit?

halfords near me do all shapes and sizes of sockets. i got one for my rocker nuts. i needed a long version to fit over the long studs sticking out. cost me about £11 for 1 socket. about 10mm with 12 sides.

yes 12 sided, I think they are 1/2" and 7/16 for the 10th and 11th if fitted.

Really? My set must be a different, older style because all 11 are the same and they definitely aren't 1/2".
