hey all,

just found this forum and i am in the process of building my second mini, this one will be turbo of course!

i'm new to the whole idea of a turbo engine as the first engine i had built (i'm going to use the same engine from my first build) was just a fast road 1330cc (A+) with close to 12:1 compression. i'm still trying to find the spec sheet of parts that were used but i know it has a 12g940 head on it - heavily ported/polished/shaved - is the 12g940 head the way to go on a turbo build? i was thinking i may need to start again with the head as i don't want to use a sandwich plate to lower the compression.

anyways, i'll save the questions for the forums and i'll see ya's around!

Russell

Welcome

It will depend on how much has been skimmed off the head as to whether its much good for turbo use, ideally you will need to lower the compression ratio to roughly between 9.5-8:1 depending on what sort of boost pressure your planning to use.

A 12G940 is what most on here are using on 1275 blocks and some 998s with exception of 7/8 ports or 16 valvers.

Anyways, theres more than enough info on here to answer all your questions so have a search around.

Cheers, George.
