stowmaket suffolk

just got the hogster running and everything was going well. no smoke and purring like a kitten (well more like a roar).

turned the engine off after the 20 minute run at fast idle. went to restart the old girl and shed load of steam came shooting out of the exhaust,

wizzed the head of and found number 3 chamber had a hole near the sparkplug about 3-4mm in diameter.

i thought i was doing well grinding my own head and she showed no signs of breaking through when grinding, but hey never mind ive only lost ?50 in trying.

but im going to put my standard 1275 recon flowed head with a 21.3cc chamber and ive worked it out that ill get 9.8:1 cr.

just wondering if that would be ok running 4 psi with a rs intercooler untill i get another head sorted, she is a 1380 with 14.5cc below the deck.

regards from a very p@ssed off hogster.

always looking for them bigger bunches of bannanas

I had a head hole - i didnt realise as i was driving and the car didnt run noticably different untill it was too late

I did notice when the piston rings failed on that piston (no3) and the engine overheated bigtime due to lack of water.

I also fucked my turbo as the water got into the oil through the knakered rings....

Not particularly what i wanted after spending ?550 on a head from a reputable company.....

and when it overheated i bent the exhaust valve on no.4 when it stuck in the guide.

But at least the company in qustion replaced the head + knocked a fair bit of money off a set of pistons
