Chaps ive recently been given a car from my bro. I currently run an escort van, i phoned the imsurance company up to as to transfer the ins over to the car. They say they cant due to it being a van policy and i would have to cancel the policy costing 145 and start a new policy costing me more money with deposits etc! Is there anything i can say/do? I dont want to cancel the policy but they are effectively making me! 1/4 Mile 14.3secs 96Mph Terminal 10psi of boost.

Insurance companies are arses, you pay them and in effect theyre employed by you to insure your car, then they turn round and tell you what you can and cant do. i dont get it.

If you pay monthly, then you have a finance agreement with another firm who have paid your insurance co on your behalf. If you don't pay them they will harass you in the usual ways until you do.

I was always under the impression you could cancel it at any time. And usually if you pay monthly you have to pay a deposit of around 20% when you start your policy to cover this. |

Nope, it's a finance agreement. You can cancel the policy, but you may still have outstanding finance to settle. On 11th Feb, 2015 robert said:

Last time an insurance company tried that one with me I told them that they could stick the cancellation fee up their collective arses. I explained that contractual or not I'd take them to the highest court in the land, then appeal, then not pay anyway. Never heard another thing about it.
