I have been thinking today how hot do you think the air will been when it has passed through the IC. Like can i put the air filter behind it if you see what i mean.
I have started posting on Instagram also my name on there is turbomk1golf

Well behind the intercooler will be warmer than the ambient, under boost condition. It will work, putting the air filter there, but if you can get fresh air that would be better. http://www.twin-turbo.co.uk

I'm with Ben on this. I have a sensor behind my intercooler connected to a gauge on the dash which tells me what the air exiting behind the intercooler is getting up to. I'd rather it wad in the intercooler on the output side but that's not necessary as I can read off the plenum inlet temp from the intercooler directly off Megasquirt. On a 15 deg C day, the air temp behind the intercooler goes between 25 and 35 deg C. I wouldn't want to be sucking this into the air filter. It's a never ending spiral. The hotter the air going into the compressor, the hotter it'll be going through the intercooler and engine. Best to sight the air filter in a sheltered area behind the grill but not in direct cold air stream. If not possible, duct a cold air feed to the filter. Richard. Minivanless, but reluctantly happy living with the decision. There'll be another one day.
