Just seen a mini some of you may know on the back of an aa van by prestwood averies near kingswinford. I saw it at minispares midlands open evening last year. As far as im aware it has a std metro turbo, vermillion red, roundnose, black grille, black 10" wheels and 3 swaged holes on the drivers side of the bonnet. Wonder whats happened to the fella :(

Will do. I'll start stripping it tonight after I've put my kids to bed.

Mitsi Evo 7, 911, Cossie. & all the chavs ...... won no problem

you wer lucky. pre ignition sorted that for you. if you dont sort it, ie lowering th CR or intercooling it and or ignition advance, the next time will be the pistons melted

Blimey thats pretty extreme, check the block surface very very carefully before you consider putting it back together.

^agreed they tend to sink between 2-3

If something is worth doing, it's worth doing half of.

Block and head are fine, and are still flat with no high or low spots.
When it popped I heard the engine note change and shut it down straight away so no further damage could be done.
The compression ratio is (just used a cr calulator) 7.59:1, Ignition and fueling was set up by a guy on the rolling road and the boost was 15psi+++, as my gauge run out of numbers. *happy*

Gents I have a spare gasket in my garage with bk450 stamped on it except it is grey in colour. I've only ever seen black ones.
Whats the deal with this then???

I did a head gasket like that after forgetting to torque it down for the 2nd time, won't make that mistake again

If in doubt... flat out! The words of a true legend

All fixed today and back together. Did a cool and hot compression check and equal across all cylinders. Hopefully I won't have anymore problems for a while. Fingers crossed. *Clapping*

Don't know what the make of gasket is. It's got the CP in a triangle and 'made in England' stamped into it.
The gasket was in a complete gasket set I bought a while ago branded 'Ultra Parts'.
