Am I correct in thinking the gearbox casing and diff casing are matched together?

They are machined as one. Not generally a good idea to mix and match them up. If something is worth doing, it's worth doing half of. |

Couldn't you weld the "split"? On 13th Jul, 2012 Ben H said:
Mine gets in the way a bit, but only when it is up. If it is down it does not cause a problem. |

take it to someone who is good with the tig and they may be able to repair it. If something is worth doing, it's worth doing half of. |

That could be welded, the way to do it once it was as clean as possible and a prep ground into the crack would be to bolt it hard up to the rest of the gearbox, and then weld it.

Yer it bolts up to the gearbox with no problem. I have to get the gearbox and diff rebuilt so will ask around and see if I can get it welded with the rebuild. |
