Hmm, for that kind of damage, thrust bearing is completely worn, and so must the heatshield be, lol.

id be surprised if the engines been hurt to bad, inter-coolers generally do a good job at filtering out solid bits from the engine. just be glad it didnt drink its own engine oil, run the sump dry and grenade.

all modern turbo diesels shit turbo's on a regular basis. just seems to be par for the course, tbo i think its cause of peoples demands on what they expect from a diesel these days, those wee turbo's get worked very hard, only saved by good servicing and mechanical sympathy.

I would imagine its also not allowing the turbo to spin down after a road and motorway blasts. Gaball said:

Had one where i used to work, engine kept sucking in more and more oil as the revs built until it finaly shat itself all over the yard...wish i had seen it! David. |

Most people stop driving it when it doesnt go right....obviously that guy kept her lit !! lol When you compare the size of a modern 150bhp turbo and one from years ago ( ie metro ) it shows how much harder the modern units are working. They are just so tiny, yet shift vast amounts of air. 9.85 @ 145mph
