Hi all

As above. Just been to a garage to get some gaskets and he said the dash pot shouldnt have any oil in it. Is this correct? Its an MG turbo carb. I have had it off to give it the once over, changed the gaskets and manfold gasket. Just wanted to check before i put it all back on the car.

Thanks guys

i thought it was a little strange. Why would he have said that? He said that he had made that mistake before of putting oil in and it ran like shit!

Depends what oil he put in and how strong the spring was in his carb i suppose. The oil dampens the movement of the carb piston.

Did he fill the whole carb with oil? I don't see how using dashpot oil would ever make it run worse. I'm using 3 in 1 at the minute seems to be ok
