Did you notice that your tank mounting 'strap' seemed a little short?

I found this on the (ex) G/F's mini when i was working on it... Had to shorten the strap by around 1" - basically you could screw the bolt (near the bootlid) right in, to the point the strap and bracket on the boot floor were touching, and the tank wasn't really tight...
As you know, normal mini tanks usually have a gap anything between 3/8"-1/2" between the strap and mount when it's good and secure...

Just wondering if anyone else noticed it? It was around 4 weeks ago it happened to me, but i just remembered now!!!

Yeah i had that dave, but i cut up an old rubber car mat (thick one) and sikaflexed it to the inside off the strap all the way round, it tightened up propery and held tighter than just a metal to metal strap.

Cool, cheers Feebs! Glad it wasn't just me!!!

That was a good solution you had... certainly the rubber 'insert' would hold things in place better *smiley*

sportpacks came with a 12" steel spare the same as every other mini from 1984 onwards!!

good theory though, you just forgot the Rover "skinflint" factor....!!!
