Chaps does anyone know where port/charge robbing actually occurs within the port? As in does it occur at the mouth/inlet tract or above the valves? Or both?

At the point where the ports join/separate just above the valves.

Air flows back out the inner cylinder as the piston starts to rise and goes into the outer cylinder as the piston starts to fall. All helped by the outer cylinder exhaust valve still being open.

Thanks for that Paul, im simply thinking out loud here but have you ever thought of fitting a thin strip of ally that split the inlet manifold which extended into the inlet port somewhat?

You could, but that would severley limit the port flow.

Charge robbing only hits performance by 3-4% up to around 7000rpm. Doubling the port velocity would cause far greater loss.
