Is there anywhey to tell a A+ gearbox from the rest.

I have an A+ engine but im unsure what gearbox is on and want the clubman 4 sycrno gear kit off mini spares, just need to know if itl fit before i order it :)

A+ will have a part no on the front DAM3220, pre A+ will be 22G1832 or somthing...

Not sure about the numbers Joe has quoted but DAM2886 is the early A+ casing that used the four bolt 3rd motion shaft retainer (generally accepted as weaker) and DAM5626 is the later one with only three bolts for the retainer and increased web thickness in the retainer area (so generally accepted as stronger).

The other way to tell later ones from earlier ones is they changed from studs/nuts with gaskets to UNC bolts and RTV on the diff housing on the later ones.
