So are these AE 21253?
http://www.minispares.com/Product.aspx?pid=37923 (Get 5% off as a mini club member or is it 10%?)

Looking to get them machined out by force racing

Alternatively any one know any good and cheap-ish pistons?

Cast is fine!

And yeah im aware only birds go cheap *tongue*

Im looking to run low boost regularly and occasionally bring up the boost to 10-15 psi!
and heard good things about these AE pistons

Or obviously Omega or Mini spares mega but just a tad out of budget when including the machining work
and everything else that needs doing haha!

Also posted in the wanted forum but if anyone has any knocking about +40 would be great
or any discounts going =]

the price of them plus the price of machining is the same as my omegas then you have the running around and stuff to get them sorted
what size dish you need?
or failing that dont minispeed sell these ready dished to the required size?

Yes i moved to the darkside *happy*

Ahh ok, i work it out to be roughly
£175 for pistons
£35 for machining so about £205?
while omegas are £270+
and still need dishing out abit more than 10cc?

Ill check out mini speed though, just down the road from me!

How much did you get your omegas for?

I believe Nick has run those pistons and they have stood up to a fair bit of abuse.

iirc the 10cc cast omegas have a 4cc ring land instead of the 0.8cc of the std turbo piston, so they shouldnt need machining any more, calculate your cr ratio without machining see what it comes to, i reckon it should be about 8.5:1, which should be about right, cannot be bothered to work it out tho *happy*

I'm going to be running 21253's on mine, i was lucky enough to take the head out to 28cc to get my compression ratio down to 8:5.1 so didn't need to machine them and i'm not planning on running much boost as i still have the helical box [but with x pin diff and sc drops]

Try your local engine builder/machinist to try and source the pistons, thats what i did as they buy them direct from the manufacturer so a little bit cheaper :)

ahh good point, Omega casts are about £270 arent they?
i'll be going 1340 - turbo head that has been modified but im yet to measure how many cc's it is, may be standard bowls wise but slightly bigger exhaust valves by the look of it

now im pretty stuck at which ones to get haha!

ive got my omegas measured up at 0.532 cc ring land volume
they do how ever sit 0.8 mm down the block making 3.74cc deck hight
sooooo the 10 + 3.74 + 0.53 bla di blaa

with 28cc in the head and a tiny block skim i get a cr of 8.0:1

imo the omega are the better piston and worth the extra but if you do indeede stick to the 10-15psi you say the 21253 are a good choice

fantastic,
Mini speed do the AE 21253's but for £185
but they are down the road!

would go for omegas but im thinking i will stick to 10-15 psi for now
as i may want to go for silly power later on i would go down the

1293 - Forged Omega 18cc'c - Full SCCR Box on a gt17 turbo
Megajolt etc.
(may do that build over winter *happy*)

But for the mo its
1310 - Cast AE 21253 dished out - Avonbar phase 2 cam - Vernier Dual timing etc.
run about 10-15 psi but alot of the time lower boost on a recon t3
:)

Hoping to bring the mini down to avon park in july just for a laugh!
