My gearbox has started to get a bit crunchy when doing a shift at high engine revs.

The problem is some of the coating on the gear cone where the baulk ring slows the gear has started to come off! Question is can this be re done or is the gear set scrap. Its a minispares clubman set if that makes any difference!

Cheers Ron

Doesn't Minispares do spares for those? IE the full gear?

Is it A-Series only? I think it should be...
So when some joey comes on here about how his 16v turbo vauxhall is great compared to ours, he can be given the 'bird'...

stowmaket suffolk

the gears will eb fine just change the rings mate, as its a cheeper option, the cone dia is a tad small, as long as you have 10 15 thou gap betwenn ring and engage teeth then all should be fine, what oil are you using

always looking for them bigger bunches of bannanas

In answer to your question Ron you cannot have the syncro cone surfaces replated. Once these are worn - usually caused by running with worn baulk rings for too long it is new gear time. New baulk rings might cure the problem long enough to sell the car but no more than that!

Cheers for the answers guys! I've always used millers ctv, but I think repeated blow ups hasn't helped!

I think a full strip down is in order to see what can be salvaged hopefully I cane get away with just changing a couple of gears!

Not very sunny swanage

If they are moly coated, and not plated then they can be redone, but it's not really cost effective to be honest...

And on the 7th day........... God created turbochargers!
