Have you got a solder sucker?

If you intend on doing more soldering of that nature or even just redoing this one, a flux pen is very useful. And solder braid is essential.

solder sucker would be best. Although never used the braid stuff.

Or even try heating the solder then tapping the workpiece against the table to knock the molten solder off. Upside down of course.

West Sussex - dreaming of forced induction!

Solder sucker wont take that off, you wont get the seal to suck it up.

You need to clean the tip of your iron so its clean clean, no solder on it at all. Put a little bit of flux on the solder joint and heat 1 pin at a time, starting at the body of the IC and slowly dragging the iron away to the leg tip, dont what ever you do put pressure on the iron just allow it to drag under its own weight (assuming you are using a decent bench top iron not some behemoth monster!). Some of the excess solder will take to the iron hopefully removing enough to make a decent solder joint on one leg.

If you dont have any luck, PM me and we'll sort something as its what i used to do every day for 14 years!! (I've moved up the ladder now though lol)

Bugger.

Good luck trying to fix it. Not my field to offer advice.

I might soon be in a position to let you have a spare MS2 daughterboard at a knock down price.

Alternatively, you have a good excuse for an MS3 upgrade.

Brett, if you get the part and send it to me at work i'll change it for you, not being funny but saves risking anymore damage!

PM me if you want it done.

Brett,

I can certainly change the Processor for you,

But, I seem to remember that it needs some form of boot code loaded in before it can e programmed which is a bit specialized for me, I might be thinking of the MS1 processor though.

maybe Jean can enlighten?

This sounds a good offer to me. I hate soldering.

You need the bootloader code and a BDM to program a new CPU.

I think that James Murray (jsmcortina) can repair and reprogram the CPU on an MS2 card.
