I have a "new" (have been skimmed unfortunately) 12g295 head.
I thought about unleaded conversation that should be better (i will also be able to use better fuel).
I heard it could be risky because the head could crack.
Couple of questions:
1) is there a manual doing the conversation?
2) is it that risky?
3) what are the standard prices for that kind of conversation?

Thanks a lot.

Would have done so, but i live overseas, and shipping 13kg to the uk would be 100GBP each way :(
So im willing to go to a specialist here but i will need to give him some guidance (a guide maybe)..

Jersey, Channel Islands

Where are you located?

I have a similar problem as I live in Jersey. Rebuilding my metro turbo engine but haven't had the cylinders bored or crank ground as it would cost too much to get it done in the UK including P&P.

Speed doesn't kill, suddenly becoming stationary, now that's what'll get ya!

Surely there are local machine shops wherever you are? There is nothing that difficult about the A series in terms of standard machining, any machine shop worth its salt should be able to do what is needed without any bother at all.

Hi Tom,
There are machine shops around, some are considered very good but i heard that the 12g295 tends to crack.
thats why i wanted to find a guide of some sort that would reduce the risk of cracking, or listening to your advice and leaving it leaded :)

Anyways,
could you please highlight the steps done in the conversation?
thanks in advance,
Naor

Yes, they tend to crack and that's a VERY good reason for having exhaust valve seats fitted.

Mine gets in the way a bit, but only when it is up. If it is down it does not cause a problem.
