hi guys asked this a while back and it kinda ran out of steam

is it possible/ worthwhile to put an intercooler between the air filter and the carb on a pull through opcon system to cool the air coming into the system

so that would be filter - intercooler - carb - charger - engine

any views or advice greatly appreciated

no because the air gets hot when its compressed i.e in the charger, so any intercooler needs to be after the charger really, i dont know what benifits , if any there are by putting the cooler before the charger

An intercooler kind of gives its purpose away with the word 'inter'.

What you are suggesting is a pre-cooler. As you are suggesting cooling the air when it has only been filtered it will still be at atmospheric temperature. Any intercooler can only reduce what passes THROUGH it by a proportion of what passes OVER the outside of the fins. If you are pulling atmospheric temperature air THROUGH it, you need the air over it to be SIGNIFICANTLY cooler to have any effect at all. As the air over it is the same temperature as through it you are wasting your time.

So in other words DON'T BOTHER!

Cooler needs to go IN BETWEEN charger and engine. But seeing as you are charging the air/fuel mix rather than just air, putting a cooler after the charger would just fill the cooler up with fuel and achieve nothing.

fair enough i shold really put my brain in to gear before asking these questions but thanks for the thorugh explination

on a different tack then how about water injection cooling
