The boring bloke who runs this place.

Hello you fantastic lot.

My car appears to be a *bit* (ha!) too low to go on the local place's tracking ramp. Perhaps 4 inches too low.

Is tracking something I can get nearly right at home? (if so, how?) Or do I have to travel bloody miles to a better place to get it done?

Fanks.

fIND AN (oops caps) old school place with a set of Dunlop optical gauges. They will do your car no problem.

wexford in ireland

we set mine with a rope tied around all 4 wheels, (obviously rear wasn't very square) but we got it fairly good drove for a year or so and no premature(other than spinning) wear on them

Some steel and a welder is all you need to make an acurate gauge to do the fronts which will come in handy time and time again every time you dismantle the front suspension.

The string method for the back end will sufice.

I used to put a square of string around the car, measure at the front and back of the wheel and do a quick bit of trig.

Worked for years, I now have access to old school gauges as Tom says.

I use one of those "drive over" Trackrite thingys - had it for years and it seems to work pretty well.

You do need a nice smooth and level bit of tarmac or concrete to use it.

Thanks guys. I think best bet is to just take it further afield. I am too stupid to do it manually I reckon. LOL
I cant even get my Lotus to idle properly at the moment.
