So i needed to replace my front floorpan, but since removing and fitting the new one it just looks a bit crap; and i'm too much of a perfectionist to just leave it.

Now i have decided to do a front to rear floor floorpan replacment, but i'm not sure what the best panel is to use.

Do i use the 2 half floorpans like this:

Or the complete floorpan like this:

Any advice on experience would be great.

Cheers, George.

I'd go for this panel. They are easy enough to fit, but you need to take into consideration the panel you need to remove to fit it (rear bins etc).

Best of both worlds...keeps the cost down, and a much neater job, if you can reuse your cross member etc?

Thanks matty, i need a new x member anyways, and i don't have rear bins so that helps.

I used the half panel's with built in sills and cut them down, got them from Somerford Mini's

How I did it can be found here

thanks for the info, i think i might go for the complete floor.

Is there any further advice about ensuring the shell is all straight before welding the floor in?

so far all i've taken out is the offside outer sill and part of the inner sill on the same side. and the x member.

I would make some brackets up where the rear subby mounts to the heels board, so you can locate the new floor and bolt it in place at the back.

You'll need to weld bar brace bar between the A and B posts and between the B posts. Once the floor is removed the only panel holding the shells shape at the bottom is the door step panel, which is very flimsy! *surprised*

Apart from that, the front should line up through the front subby mount holes, and the rest should fit with a bit of tweaking here and there...kind of...in an ideal world...*happy*

Ok so i've bought the panels, and i've been having a look at how i'm going to do it today in preperation.

What i was unsure about was how most people remove all of the spot welds?

Usually i either grind them down or drill them out, this depending on the location/panel. Is this what everyone else does?

Yeah I usually drill them (not all the way through the panel though) and I then use some grips to peel the panels away. A flapper disc works well to clean the ede up after.

Also before you weld the new panels in, make sure you use weld through (zinc) primer on the mating faces being welded together to help prevent the dreaded rust.
