I'm currently spec'ing a head for a project at univeristy and from the flow calcualtions ive done i have decided to go for a 36mm inlet valve with a 30mm exhaust valve.

You can fit upto 37.5 inlet with a 30mm exhaust I seriously doubt it! |

Yes no problems, you can fit a 36-31 combination before any offsetting is needed. |

those were the old Cooper S sizes, 36 x 31 and were prone to crack between the seats, before they whent back to 36 x 30, also 35.6 x29.5 at some stage and later 33x 29.5mm layland set for a margin of saftey for them ............ forced induction compouds the larger sizes for reliability!

The old "S" was 35,6/31. They cracked because the casting was crap. Then they went to 35,6/29,4 and stayed there. The 33,3 inlet was on the inferior models.
