I've installed a windage tray, and now am wondering how the piston skirts will receive lubrication. Is there enough oil that seeps out the edges of the gudgeon bearings and slung around that the cylinder walls get lubricated?

I would say yes. Otherwise north, south a-series engines wouldn't get enough lubrication.

If something is worth doing, it's worth doing half of.

hey Dr,

as a bove there will be plenty from the crank,

Pesonally I dont like the idea of gearboxy oil being flung up onto the bores and cam, jsut think of all those bits of gearbox that end up on the sump plug getting on your bores and cam.

If your really inclined though you can fit BMW oil jets to squirt at the piston.

The bores are lubricated the same way as any other engine without a shared gearbox. Its not anything to be worried about

I seriously doubt it!
