I've been reading the forum for quite some time now and thought it was time to say hello.

The depth of knowledge I've found on here is quite amazing, not to mention some of the DIY engineering I've come across - it has to be said that this place is easily the best mini forum.

I haven't owned any minis for a couple of years now - last 2 I sold were a modified MKIII and a MKI Morris Cooper 998.
My current project is a 69 registered GTM Coupe that was sat in my father's garage for 12 years before we got it back on the road this year. At the moment it's running a standard MG Metro engine with a downdraft Weber. I briefly toyed with the idea of dropping a different engine in but I'm too attached to the old A series to do it and I'd prefer to keep it more or less original.

So.. after thinking over the tuning options I decided to go the turbo route as it seems the most sensible for a road-going A series and to be honest I'm fed up of screaming cammy engines that require constant rebuilds.
I have already got hold of some parts, including a Garrett GT1752 but I'm gonna take my time with this and enjoy the learning aspect of it (not to mention I'm not exactly flush with cash).

I'm no stranger to turbo cars - I became a big fan from the age of 6 when my Dad bought a Saab 900 Turbo in the early 80's, then later on ended up buying and modifying a 924 Turbo, which I'll probably never sell.

Having said all that I'm a novice when it comes to mini turbos so go easy on me if I ask a stupid question, and I will of course search before asking anything...

Cheers,
Wes.

Dam right. Van's short motor is back together now, so not too long until it's terrorising the mean streets of toy town again.

Welcome! This really is a great site, I stand as a now complete (well sort of) turbo mini. All the info you'll ever need is here! Good luck.

Thanks everyone for the warm welcome.
Looks like I've managed to bag myself a non-linered turbo block still on it's original bores.
