ive been thinking about the various options obviously i could make 1 from scratch, other option is to modify an lcb type manifold. but while thinking about the latter i was wondering if a injection type cast manifold could be used and the just make the downpipes sweep out the the side of the block.
would this be a good idea? or should i just continue sourcing a couple of knackered lcbs to have a play with?

You can weld cast to mild steel, but in that scenario I don't see it lasting very long.

it wont need welding as the downpipes on the injection mani are bolt on, thats what got me thinking about it. picture pinched from a certain site.

It would take whole load of horrid bends to get both tubes anywhere near your turbo

when i picture it i see probably 110 deg bend out of the manifold and then straight to the turbo (x2) i know once i started to do it it would get a bit more difficult. but that was how i saw my idea if that makes sense?

I does for me as I was planning to do the same (but was thinking about using the injection downpipe modded)

Not just me then, I was going to use standard downpipes to chop and mod first to see if it worked, then remake in stainless. Because its only going to be for a 998 I think it shouldnt be restrctive and retain some heat in the cast mani as well.
