Hello, in the standard plenum-to-carb on mg turbo, there is a overboost valve built in. At what psi does this operate. I have the plenum minus this item, how do I bypass or get the guts to go in it? where do I get it from, whats the official name?
This seems an obvious place to fit a dump valve fitting there instead, anyone tried this? Thank tou so much.*smiley*

ABS and traction control are for people that should not have bought a car that fast!
To build a fast car from demon tweeks parts is more expensive than a Bugatti Veyron outright!!

it is the std dump valve if it is missing then block the hole up and have a tube welded in the plenum chamber hand you can if a external dump valve i think the std one is ok up to 8psi boost

It's not actually a dump valve, it's an overboost valve to blow off around 10psi or so.

I thought it was just a pressured sprig that was a fail safe if the actuator didnt open to stop it overboosting past 10 psi ish.

one day boost will be mine!

No it's just a bunge with a spring, when the pressure gets more than the spring can hold it will be opened by the pressure. I had mine welded up and I didn't like that setup.

Whats the differance between an overboost valve an a dump valve?

An over boost valve when the pressure gets to a certain pressure that the valve is set to open at.

A dump valve releases pressure that's been built up by a turbo or supercharger, they won't open until a vacuum pulls the piston in the dump valve to release the pressure.

Hope that helps??

Thanks ,didn't realize the dump valve was vacumn operated I thought it was pressure operated like the boost valve. Is the vacumn taken directly from the inlet manifold?
