Gents,

I am trying to set my primary gear up and I am having some issues. I am using 2 sets of feeler gauges so I know there is no rocking going on. I'm trying to set it to around 6 - 8 thou as I am using straight cut.

What I am finding is that one side (level with the prongs of the C clip) is too tight, and the other side is just right. I have tried turning round the C clip round and that makes no difference. I have measured all distances and thicknesses and they all seem the same.

Any ideas? Should I get the tightest gap to be 6 thou or should I try something else?

I've been looking at it for 2hrs today, on and off, on and off etc.

:(

Mitsi Evo 7, 911, Cossie. & all the chavs ...... won no problem

you need to linish a tad! off the back of the bronze thrust washer say using P 180 grit and finish off with 400 wet and dry to get the disired 6 thou

us a flat surface

Cheers, but won't doing that open up the bigger gap on one side even more?

Or should I get the smallest gap to be 6 thou and forget about the biggest? Its the unevenness that is bothering me...

for straight cuts I wouldnt be overly bothered,

although try fiddling with the c clip, they can wear so turnig them round can help.

A lot of new parts are pants, basically does the C clip fit in the crank grooves without loads of play?

the grooves in my crank are a tad wide so i couldnt find a c clip that fiitted satisfactorally, so i gave it a squirt of weld and filed it down till it fitted nicely,
