I'm in the process of rebuilding a turbo and the kit i'v got comes with a 360 degree thrust bearing as the replacement for the original.

What i wanted to know was what is the benefit, if any of using this bearing instead of whatever degree bearing came as standard.

Also, are there any other benefits of modding the turbo in other ways which I might as well carry out whilst its in bits, like different compressor wheels etc

Cheers

the 360 bearing spreads the load caused by boost pressure better, only really neaded for 15psi ish upwards,

also all gt series turbo's (that i've seen) are 360 anyway.

as for different compressor wheel's have a play with this,

you want to get the flow line for the engine pasing through the centre (most efficient point) of the copressor map to minimise the heat going into the charge.

as for the exhaust wheel, bigger ones spool up later but make more power.

anyway playing with different wheels isnt really an option ans it often means machining stuff.

WOAH!

I literally have no idea whats going on with that compressor map or what to change from all of those variables!

I think i'll stick with the standard T2 hardware but add in this 360 degree bearing.

Thanks for clearing up the bearing question though

yes i've always found 360 bearing to be very good.
