I had a sunroof and wanted rid of it so I added a fibreglass roof skin over the metal roof. Just cut out the sunroof and stick the fibreglass roof over the top. It works out stronger...

edit:fixed the typo..

Shropshire.

Depending on the class you want to enter you will need to replace the roof with a steel one.. best to read up on the class requirements before making the decision.

I also wouldn’t suggest sticking a fibreglass roof over the existing roof.. to me its a bit of a bodge.

The car has to remain Steel withinn the axel centres, so no, a GRP roof is ineligable for the classes that you would want to run in.

GRP over the top seems a bodge to me too

It's not that hard to fit a new steel roof skin.

i was just tryin to dig out the mini world featured that has the article on changin the roof skin, but cannot find it! Is it possible to remove a roof skin from another mini and fit it to another without damaging it?

Yes, cut the roof of the donor car below the gutters and grind it back the bottom of the lip on the skin. should be fine as long as you are carefull

It is possible, and not difficult at all, as that is what I did. There is plenty of pics in my build thread. *wink*

The only thing I would say is leave the front and rear screen in place. I found that the front screen of mine was VERY tight when refitting and it was because the front gutter had rotated slightly. It was easy enough to pull out, but with the screens in place it will prevent it from happening. *wink*
