why do they always cost so much. i cant get insurance as 3 of my 4 dogs are between 11 and 14. and one of them now needs a stone or possibly a tumor removing from his bladder. it's between £500 and £600 for the op. then who knows if any future care will be needed.
may have to sell a few parts towards the cost too. but he's my dog and they are all most important to me.

I cancelled the insurance for my dog after about 5 years. The fuckers weazzle out of paying for everything, so they don't get my money any more. It costs less for his medication every month than it does for the insurance...

My cat (no insurance as she is 13 years old) costs an average of £150 a year on Vets bills.

Typical last year, £40 for yearly jab/checkup, then £50 to have a single tooth removed under aneasthetic as they found the cracked one during the yearly checkup, then another £40 three months later to check her blood levels as they were slightly poor, kidney function, measured during the tooth removal, and another £40 for antibiotics for a puncture wound (cat fight) where the vet told me she obviously won......

Similar to the cost of road tax on an average car I think ???

And that's without the cost of food (petrol !!!) which she has to have the special stuff for older cats to keep her kidneys working.

But she is cute :)

Schrödinger's cat - so which one am I ???

My parents spent over 2000 pounds on my cat when someone kicked in his rear end.

What kind of a person does that, fair enough if you dont like a cat your entitled to get them out of your garden. But you spray then with a hose or something, you dont put on your steel toe caps and boot the poor animal breaking a leg, his pelvis meaning he has to be pinned up and in a cage for 3 months.

Shame the poor boy took his last breath last week. 17 years old he had a good run and died sleeping in a place where hes happy.

i think we are lucky with our cat, he's 11 and has only cost me the anual injections. never had insurance as he's been so healthy, but knowing our luck after putting this post on he will become ill, we love him though

i was the same with my dogs, up until last year when the eldest 2 bitches both got the same illness within 3 months of each other and then they both got ill again not long after each of their ops. i think from being run down while recovering. and now my dog has turned 11 his bills are starting now. up until this past 18 months they had never cost me anything really, now its going to be somewhere around 2k between them.

Stoke-on-Trent. Duck.

Sainsbury's have been fantastic for us; £3k then £2.5k on eye ops, followed by £3k spinal surgery - they've paid out for the lot, inc. petrol to/ from surgeries. Can't fault them.

And the dog's fine (thankfully!) - he even got a mention on Radio 1 a while back *hehe!*
