Sometime in the last 6 months during the build I've lost the big washer type thing that goes on the outside of the water pump pulley. The one that's about 2" diameter with a big hole in the middle and 4 smaller holes round the outside. It's a 1275 water pump if that makes any difference..

From your description, that's the spacer that moves the fan away from the water pump.

I don't have a spare myself but if no-one else offers they are a standard item from MiniSpares and others - two different thicknesses IIRC. Just search for fan spacer. Ahh, I get it now. I don't have a fan on it. I thought it was just to spread the clamping across a wider area, I didn't realise it was a spacer. Has anyone run the pulley without it, just the bolts + washers? |

I've certainly assembled mine with just plain and spring washers (front mounted radiator) because as far as I can remember that is just how the Metros were assembled.

On original A35 A series engines there was a reinforcing plate on top of the fan, designed to stop the flexing of the blades.

no spacer on our engine. Can't see it doing much more than adding mass for the engine to spin On 11th Feb, 2015 robert said:
i tried putting soap on it , and heating it to brown , then slathered my new lube on it
