Australia oi oi oi!

I'm right confused what to get...

I have never experienced new rubber cones? Are they any good??

Any one on the mini tastic springs.?

I have just fitted a set of S-Racer red springs, and initial impressions are that they are very good indeed.
Ride quality is almost as smooth as hydrolastic, but without the pitching.

I've heard mixed reviews about the Minitastic ones, as some are English and some are Japanese - they recommend the Jap ones go on the front...

I don't really like the idea of these. I don't think the springs will give the same progressive damping rate that a rubber cone will.

I would much rather switch to coilovers if ditching the rubber.

If something is worth doing, it's worth doing half of.

One of the lads in our club has a vtec convirsion he uses as his daily and has got minitastic springs on, and he says they are great. Slighlty harder than the cones tho. Imo if i wernt going for coilovers i would jave springs. Purely as you wont have to keep replacing them like the rubber cones.

The turbo build has finally started

They would need replacing like any other car spring does, they will fatigue aand break eventually.

Would still have a longer life expectancy than the rubber springs tho surely?

I feel unless youre trying to save weight by fitting coilovers, Rubber all the way!

I dont think so, but thats just my opinion. If they do improve handling and ride then they are a worthwhile mod, but I dont see them out lasting rubbers.

I bought my first set of S-Racer springs at Mini Meet East Meets West in Rockford Illinois back in 2004 and brought them back in a suitcase along with their billet alloy hi-los. They are still in a box waiting to be fitted to my Elf...

The set that are fitted to the Union Jack car came with a set of subframes I bought from a friend who was breaking his car, so I don't really know how much I paid for them.
Mini Spare sell them: http://www.minispares.com/Product.aspx?ty=...id=36782&title=
You DO - and I can't emphasise this enough - need ot have a set of very large front bump rubbers in to prevent the spring from unseating at full droop.
if you don't, the springs will shatter if you yump the car over a bridge - this is why they got such a bad rep a few years ago.

I'm using Mini Spares Hi-Los with the coils, and set the ride height lower than it was with cones and collapsed rubbers.
