Would you buy an alfa derv 159? If you were planning to rack some miles on it? Looking at a low mile 3 year old car 40k or lower or is it the world of pain that you read about n the Internet.

anyone got one? Did the dealers fix it under the warranty?

I run a supercharger and I don't care the TB is on the wrong side.

I love these cars but couldn't live with the repairs on the mileage I do.

Keith T was seriously looking recently though and apparently the reliability issues are not as bad as the older 156

A few people I work with have them. Well, they have them when they aren't back in the Alfa dealer for repairs...enough said

Plus, you just can't have a diesel Alfa, it's just plain wrong.

Yes, they are very pretty, as most Alfas are, but not quite up to snuff on the old actually moving reliably. Shame..

my mate must be the lucky one then, he's ran one of the new mito's for nearly 3 years now and its only been back to the dealers for servicing, another mate had a 147 and also had no issues.
But one of the foreman at work has a diesel coupe alfa and its just wrong, looks the part but when he turns the key.......

one day boost will be mine!

Can't comment on the newer ones, but my 53 plate A4 has been bullet proof. Nearly 150k in and all it's had is a rear drop link and the wiper mechanism seized up (at 80mph in the pissing rain on the motorway).

To be honest I think a lot of the manufactures newer cars are not as good as the older stuff...

I don't buy the derv argument, as an engine I prefer them I like the bentley approach to engines, a low revving high torque with decent power and a turbo thrown in. In today's modern world and everydayhigh miles means you can't ing or mpg you just need to embrace it. All imo

Mines on boost from about 1700 rev's and makes a bucket load of torque almost imediatly, I was surpised the first time I drove it. Nothing like any diesel I'd driven before and much faster than the similar powered petrol it replaced...
