Hi all,

Firstly, I've had a search in this section for any discussions on manifold mods but there aren't any obvious ones.

Long story short, I've acquired (legitimately!) a fully worked 1293 with a Benross head. In between pulling out the std 1275 turbo and fitting this I've whipped a few bits off to clean up/ replace.

The exhaust ports on the head are obviously significantly enlarged, but it's matched to what appears to be a standard turbo manifold; while it's all in pieces on a bench is it worth taking a dremmel to the mainifold to open out the ports?

I suspect this also menas the vanes on the "turbo" end are standard (I've not split it yet to check) - is there much benefit to be gained from reducing teh width of these? I saw a pic in someones build thread of them having been whittled down but I'm damned if I can find it!

Similarly, are mods to the inlet usually carried out too for similar reasons?

Thanks,

Dave.

PS I've pm'd Benross too, but I suspect he's a rather busy chap so thought I'd open this up as a topic to get some views.

Cheers for the help guys, Benross got back to me too and explained the elbow's worth upto 9bhp at 8psi, the manifold work potentially 8bhp. I expect anybody running even a standard 1275 turbo would see similar improvements.

Great link too Phil, thanks for that. I didn't think to broaden the search to "parts & suppliers" - the initial search on "manifold" got me a few too may hits as you might expect! The search tool is great, but is sometime a bit vague with the results.

Cheers,

Dave.
