just wondering guys what is the going rate for a running 1275 engine gearbox.

i see turbo engines going for about 800 pounds low mileage & worked a fair bit.

it can be a efi or what ever i just need the engine, in working order.

looking at importing a spare good runner but im not sure what they are really worth.

i got £350 for a 60,000mile unleaded engine

for a non-rebuilt standard engine i certainly wouldn't pay any more.

I remember the good old days when a 998 was £40 and a 1275 was £60

I remember paying £50 for a 1275 metro with MOT!

i get the price has gone up, thats no problems, i just don't want to pay 900 pounds for a engine thats a good low mile engine when all it has been is painted with red can of paint haha..

300 pounds is about what i'm after or a bit more for something decent.

it is going to cost me about 500 pounds to get it to me by courier, door to door.

not sure by sea, not looked into that.

wish the days of 1275 for 60 pounds in australia happened would have been a good 25 years ago & thats is the old A series.


i think ill look for something on TM i would trust something on here more then from ebay.

Does it need to be a complete engine or could you just start with a short engine and go from there?

I bought mine for £250, still in the previous car running, looked a bit crappy as the engine was green and a bright blue head, so he wasnt trying to pull an ebay special. the chap wanted £300 originally, which included the tank and all the fuel lines! but i didnt need those haha. That was about a year ago now, and after a rolling road session it hasnt let me down yet!

Not sure might be cheaper to import a full engine then in bits.

I think the weight is roughly 160kg Dry. Had to move mine with the oil in as the tit i bought it off forgot to drain it, really didnt help matters >_<

Lol yeh had the same thing done to me before. Just need dimensions if the engine to get a quote
