I've got a 55amp N.D. for mine, will be running ecu etc. Only bought that as it was competitivly priced.

Apbellamy can you link me to the 55amp one you bought? Or a part number.

I think those shiny ones may be race alternators no good for a everyday mini.

Will still ring him and check

Part number on mine is:

119254-77200

I'm sure they are all pretty much the same though. Just check what connector they use as the funny round ones are not cheep

Betwix Harrogate and York

From measurements I found that just to run a mini (with MS, FI fuel pump and a few dials and lighs on the dash) was around 4 amps.

I should re-do the measurement with injectors etc and see the differance.

If you added up all your lights, heater fan etc, it may get to 50 amps, but it would be in extreme circumstances.

Fastest 998 mini in the world? 13.05 1/4 mile 106mph

Nick, you should standardise.
Just get a second hand Nippon Denso alternator off a Swift the same as in your other car.

Then you'll be able to swap them if you ever have a problem.

Australia oi oi oi!

i did alot of research today.. Mucking around instead of working..

my findings are, going through books & books!

all the smallest alternators, that you all want to run are all from Kubota mini diggers, they are all cheap as hell from USA new.

search Kubota, mini diggers Alternator world wide, via ebay, some come uprated factory, all 12v, all nippon denso and un-wound, so will work normally, charge normally, not like a race alternators.

they are very small from 30 amps 45amp the bigger type ones come in a 60amp but still very small.

perfect for retro fitting!!

i have listed the ebay sellers, so in future if people search? instead of dead ebay links! search the shop & you will find!

55amp unit

ebay seller rareelectrical cheapest so far

http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/NEW-ALTERNATOR-...c#ht_2706wt_907

tiny 30amp unit also comes in 40 & 45amp

ebay seller caltric ** cheapest seller*

http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/Alternator-Kubo...#ht_2554wt_1141

http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/Alternator-Kubo...#ht_3708wt_1141

below the tiny 40amp unit with video

ebay seller crank-n-charge

http://youtu.be/Ln4GvCKvpo4

http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/NEW-Alternator-...a#ht_5912wt_933

60amp unit ebay seller budda06320

http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/NEW-KUBOTA-TRAC...9#ht_4568wt_907

if you want to go the full hog go tiny 85amp nippon denso alternators.

i think i will buy this one,

ebay seller info caltric now sold out, price has been jacked up.

http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/Alternator-Kubo...#ht_2272wt_1141

Perth, Australia

how much effort is it to mount these to the standard mounting points on the block?

does anyone have photos of the brackets they've used?
