I was looking through the photo set of that car and I noticed they've used a a Mk2 onwards instrument binnacle and screwed 4 chrome screws into it to make it look like a Mk1 binnacle. It doesn't really work though as the speedo sticks out too far. I thought the Germans would pay better attention to detail than that.

cracking looking car, and i think its fair to say its not exactly as original, so having the wrong centre clock isn't going to look out of place.

My point wasn't that every detail should be correct, I can see it is not rebuilt with that in mind and I do not object to a modified Cooper S within reason. The point was that they have screwed 4 screws into a Mk2 dash binnacle to make it look like a Mk1 even though there are many other differences. On a Mk1 the screws hold the binnacle to the face plate, on a Mk2 the design is a lot more simple and one binnacle holds everything and just screws to the bulkhead. Anyway, it doesn't bother me, I just thought it was an odd detail.
