When i swapped my verto 998 for a pre verto 1275, i never adjusted the throwout, and never really understood it.

My clutch pedal returns to the top as normal, but i have to press it about 2 1/2 inches before it does anything, the problem has been getting slowly worse, could this be the throwout adjustment screw working its way back in? and to fix the problem do i just need to wind it back out until i have say 25mm of travel before the clutch starts to operate?

Mitsi Evo 7, 911, Cossie. & all the chavs ...... won no problem

you may have to bleed the slave cylinder ........check that the slave cylinder is fully out on pressing the clutch pedal down if not bleed it

you also need to check and adjust the arm stop the small bolt half way down the clutch housing....... the adjustment is around 1mm play there ..... clutch not engaged

also on the bottom where the big nut is get someone to place there foot and engage the clutch

the adjustment there is 2mm gap from the nut to the cover .......... but please make sure you have done all the above first then lock the two nuts up *smiley*

Would edge my bets on either the slave cylinder (first port of call) or the master cylinder leaking. Even though it doesn't look like its leaking, it could be sucking air in rather than leaking fluid out.

Ill just go through all that lot first, doesnt feel spongy where the clutch is actually doing something, its just literally 2inch further down before it does what it should be doing

Adjust the 1/4" bolt till there is 1" at the pedal.

Remove any springs that might be fitted.

"ALSO IT BACKS UP THE SLOP IN YOUR HYDROLICS AND BEHOLD THE CLUTCH WORKS LIKE A NORMAL CAR"

1) properly bled hydraulics don't have slop
2) It's spelt "hydraulics"

3) For a system that takes out all the slop to provide a pedal feel like a 'normal car' then you need a spring that permanently loads the release bearing, not one that unloads it....

Lol, what a joker, if people wernt always looking for a quick fix, that little spring bodge is going to make somebody come very unstuck some day.
Also if it really was that good or necessary, Everyone would fit one...
