on the bottom of the chamber i have these tamperproof screws, i presume its safe to replace them with some cap bolts or similar?

Yep ! Just replace the tamperproof ones with ordinary screws, easily "borrowed" from a non Turbo SU. Worth fitting some spring washers under them as well.

New standard type screws come in the rebuild kit.

or use a small socket as they're not usually all that tight. |

yeh unless they well chewed up like mine were i had to drill them out took bloody ages love that straight cut scream!!!
