If you are worried about the rims leaking air thats what I'd do?
You are not supposed to use tubes on the road, no, but that doesn't stop you if you choose to.
I have used them before on a shagger old escort van with knackered alloys where the tyres wouldn't seal on the rim properly and kept going down.

How about get some o-ring material and glue up a thin section seal to fit round the rim? So its squashed up when you bolt it all up?

Plain simple bathroom sealer is what's on my split rims!

Does the job just fine.

Use clear silicone, screwfix is fairly cheap on such material.

Be careful saying bathroom sealer Dave as a lot of modern stuff is water based acrylic and no good for the job.

If you really want to go to town use a 1 part polyurethane sealer on them, it comes in an aluminium tube. Sticks like sh*te to a blanket and will make it very difficult to split your rims in future, silicone is a bit easier in this respect.

Yeah !!! it is, a chocolate fire guard even !!. Bloody health and safety these days says manufacturers have to use safer systems, i.e. water based polymers. Loads of the stuff b&Q and similar places sell labelled as "bathroom sealer" is this stuff these days. Its pants for just about any use !! lol

yeah we had some a while back, using to seal a sink. thought we'd see if it worked and it pissed water out. found out that it needed 24hrs to cure before it could come in contact with water!!!

Only advantage is that its easier to get off your hands than silicon!!!

All sealed now any thanks guys *smiley*
