Have a set of 12 revos with a539`s on two, and some crappy budget crap ones on the others, wheels nuts and all that jazz. 50 quid and a passenger seat blast....down past Didcot in a village called Chilton if you know where that is?

I've got some shot a539's in my unit.

Sorry Rob, new rule for 2011 , anyone in the road car classes must have brand new tyres fitted for each run, ,and if they are not brand new and unused at the end of the run it will not count,

Robert, last year I did my best 60ft ever of 2.0 secs on brand new tyres, I think the myth of 'worn out is best' to be bollox

I seriously doubt it!

I think Robert is more concerned about spoiling some decent tyres rather than getting the best 60ft time.

Having said that, would worn out tyres being close to slicks not be a help ?.

I guess technique is at least as important as tyres.

It wont ruin them, I did 6 years on the road and 6 years of Avon and various RWYB events on a single set of tyres.
Since I did better with new tyres I dont believe worn out are better

thank you paul , i didnt know that . i was looking at it the way david describe really .cant afford heating oil yet alone tyres , so thought it worth seeing if there were any worn 48s etc that were cheap because they were so worn if you see what i mean .
i think my best possible worked out to be 13.1 last year ,,so it would be nice to get the 60 ft down from 2.4 odd,and go just a little bit quicker off the line .


i fogrgot to say thanks to sam and almichie,, i had a bit of a read on the 539 and it seems they wouldnt be any better than my faulkens ..but i really appreciate the offers, thanks chaps .

Not quite what you're asking for, but I've got a pair of 175/50 13 Dunlop SP sports. plenty of tread, but excess camber or caster or something has done for the outer edge on each of them. FOC if they are any use to you.

interested andy ..any idea of how old they are and which model sp sport are they ? let me know and i'll do some research...

We had them on the back of the van for Avon 2009, where John promptly found they didn't help cornering in the wet (it was very wet that year!). We bough them used.

They are Dunlop SP Sport 3000. Not sure on dates, but have the following on the side walls:

DOT DD D1 RAD 219
32137
PC 325AA

Both have 2-3mm above the wear marker on the center 2/3. Perfect for emergency starts on the strip, maybe add some bleach for extra stickiness...

Why not buy some tyre softener for the falcs?? And tyre glue or what ever its called, ment to be suitable for road use as well? From what i could work out from reading up about it, it changes the compound of the tyre making them mord grippy. The fastest civic in the uk does it soaks the tyres in the compound then glues them some how
