I've been trying to help a mate out with his mpi, but having no luck!

The idle air control valves are notorious for breaking. The valve body usually cracks where the large pipe attaches that runs from the throttle body On 26th Oct, 2004 TurboDave16v said:

Would that cause it not to start then? Is the imobiliser switching off properly? Red light going out etc?

Check the 13 way loom connector pins for scorching. There are two of these connectors. One on the bulkhead by the inertia switch and the the other under the dash on the passenger side right up in the corner of the inner wing/ parcel shelf area. On 26th Oct, 2004 TurboDave16v said:

the immobiliser is switching off as it should and there is no power at the pump...so will try sprockets advice and see how that goes.. ““A turbo: exhaust gasses go into the turbocharger and spin it, witchcraft happens and you go faster.”” - Jeremy Clarkson
