Hi all

I am in the process of buying the final bits for the car (hopefully) and now I am turning my attention onto the exhaust.

I will be running the standard T3 metro manifold and turbo and have purchased a knuckle jointed downpipe from MiniSpares. I believe that has an OD is 2.5” and so, just wondering what would be the best exhaust to get. I have decided on a twin round centre exit exhaust (this one http://www.minisport.com/mini-spare-parts/...AN583_8S1.html) but I believe the inlet is 2”. Personally, I would prefer to keep the same diameter from the downpipe to the back box but I am having difficulties in finding a link pipe that is 2.5” and a back box that has a 2.5” inlet.

What do you think I should do? Keep searching for the ideal system or accept my fate and go for a 2” link pipe and back box and buy a 2.5” to 2.0” reducer to fit between the downpipe and the link pipe?

Also, don’t suppose anyone has a similar setup and has a picture of the back end of their car?

I did a bit of searching yesterday and found some photos but I plan to deseam the rear end and there aren’t many photos of the setup I want with a smooth butt. The only photo I found didn’t look right, not sure it the height was too high or the arches different. I plan on running 13x7 deep dish with MiniSport group 5 arches and lowered.

The minispares downpipe is 2" so the 2" pipe should sleeve onto it.

If something is worth doing, it's worth doing half of.

Whats the i/d of the downpipe, could fit the link pipe inside and clamp the downpipe onto it.

one day boost will be mine!

Good point, think I remember measuring it last night and it was 2.0" but for some reason, I thought it was 2.5"!

Looks like I don't have a problem anymore unless I am better off finding a large bore downpipe, linkpipe and rear box...

I don't think you would benefit much from a downpipe large than 2" unless you are going to be aiming for a very very big power figure.

Ok cool. I just remember on my Escort RS Turbo that I had a 3" exhaust all the way through.

Will get the Fletcher then. I assume that the below will be ok or do I need to cut it down or add a section or even flare out the end?

I'm not sure what clamps over and under what on those. I make my own.. I'm sure someone on here is the resident expert on off the shelf stuff.

this was mine mid 2004

its a 3" twin up swept, i had to shorten the link pipe by almost 4 inches to get it to tuck up and follow the lines of the rear valance, that was the part most people spoke about the way the lines just flow almost as though it was the standard look, over time the heat burnt the paint really bad but the carbon build up covered it up so i left it, must have been nearly 5 years it was like that
the photo infront of the transit is when it was at its best looking but also just after that it failed its mot and came off the road for its first turbo engine and a new front end its never looked that good since *frown*

edit: also in the pic in the garage it had 2000watt of audio and a carpet *happy* it slowed me down so it went in the supra*happy*
