Never heard of giant, if you look on the likes of ebay, or mig welding forun! You can get something like a clarke 130 turbo for 120 notes, a very good welder for the money

you get what you pay for i think, i have 2 both cost about 500notes new and i would say they are both well made enough to justify the money

i bought my compressor from a similar super discount clearance werehouse sale jobie thing it cost 75 quid for an entire settup it looks the business but in reality can barely give 4cfm it says 12cfm on the compressor *happy*
its good for pumping up tires.....

Yes i moved to the darkside *happy*

I do agree you get what u pay for but the rrp is 200 which sounds about right for a 130amp mig welder well if that's really the rrp places like this tend to lie sometimes I think aswell. So just thought I would ask if any1s had any experience with that make before & as its only something iam wanting (prob needing) to learn I Havant got a great knowledge of welders at the min

My personal opinion would be to save up and get something better, you say its only to practise on, but what happens in 12months time when you have got the hang of it and wanting a better welder? Buy cheap buy twice.

I have a clarke 135 turbo and a clarke stick welder at home, but I use the welders at work too, to say I'm used to £3000 welding sets, the clarke stuff feels really smooth and very little spatter.

I bought a cheap gasless mig a couple of years ago and its still going strong but it bugs me, the welds are solid but im never happy with the finnish I get with the welds, and it doesnt matter who tries to use it just always looks pants.
it does what its supposed to do but i'll be saving upp for a better one soon.

one day boost will be mine!

Gasless welds always look messy, very unstable arc too.

I've got a cheap Clarke MIG and I get good results with it, especially when using Argon/CO2 shielding gas rather than just CO2.

This is the one. I think it was a good bit cheaper when I bought it. http://www.machinemart.co.uk/shop/product/...diy-mig-welders

I later bought an auto darkening helmet which improved my welding even more, especially when welding in tight spaces where you can't have your helmet up to line up the gun.

I think thats down to blanc spots inside the wire where there is no flux. Once mines on the road ill save and innvest in a decent one then after a couple of years running it i'll take it back off the road for rear quarters and a full front end..
