Afternoon.
My mum recently bought a horse box transit van, it's the non turbo model.
She took it out for her first real drive today, and she said that it was very smokey, black smoke ...

Does this mean the engine is fubar, or could it be something simple?

I know nowt about diesels (or petrols LOL) so just wondered if anyone had any advice.

Any info is welcomed!

Cheers
Al.

sounds like pump timing

Everyone knows that instructions only have to be read if the thing doesn't work....

you can time the pump yes...

you just need the manual for the engine!

Timing the pump is an intricate job and needs to be done VERY accurately.

Personally I would take it to a diesel place and let them set it up.

Although depending on what your mum is used to, her opinion of "very smoky" might just be normal for an old transit........
