slacken the rocker adjuster off then push the rocker to one side.

is there not a way to make the rocker rock? the engine is out as i had problem with the turbo oil drain pipe, if it makes it easier

Turn the pulley on the lower right of the engine, where the fanbelt goes, assuming you haven't disconnected anything it should "rock"

it will be fine,

unleaded fuel causes pitting of the valve seats, but it will take quite a few thousand miles to start to show,

My 1380 is starting to get a little ropy due to this, but i've been running unleaded in it for nearly 5 years, probably about 50000 miles.

Mitsi Evo 7, 911, Cossie. & all the chavs ...... won no problem

if you sure the gasket has not blown between 2 and 3 go for plugs, leads, valve clearences etc.....

dont forget to torque your new gasket up to 55ft pounds

Did you do a compression test before you took the head off to see if compression was low on 2 and 3 ???

If the gasket looks good there (although sometimes it's not obvious if it's been leaking) it could be the exhaust valves pitted/burnt. Just because you only did a short distance with unleaded doesn't mean the previous owner didn't do an awful lot more..... leaded fuel hasn't been on the average forecourt for over ten years and the additive is quite expensive.....

hi guys...

Been away on holiday for a while, just got back. the headgasket looks brand new. sparkplugs and leads are brand new also benross.

as for the valves i had the head checked not to long ago(maybe 50km back) and the guys said all was fine.

when removing the rad, the coolant was very oily. spoke to a guy and he says it ussually means a cracked block. dont trust his opinion though. any thoughts?

wish i had the money to just start fresh with a brand new engine...FML

the engine is also smoking lightly. its was striped down before putting it back in, but the idiot that did the work for me used the old piston rings, bearings etc.. only gaskets were replaced....

knew even less about engines then, than i know now, so took his word that it didnt need anything doing
