I dont know what the deal with minis is, but my experience on VWs says that if you lower the car AT ALL you should change the shocks. |

that was my underdstanding too, it think you could get away with less than an inch drop before new dampers are needed really. |

I was told up to an inch is fine with normal rather than lowered dampers, I ran normal on mine for a while (and you know how low that is:cool: got lowered now though).

If it hits the bump stops on susp travel before the damper bottoms out then the dampers will be OK........
