Has anybody got any preference or experience of using front mounted rads in a Clubman

The Clubman will still have the inner wings, so there will be a restriction on width, but other than that there is plenty of room

I intend to fit and oil cooler directly behind the grill, with an intercooler down low on the subframe, so that should leave me with enough space to fix a 'Metro size' rad, especially as I'll be also going Megajolt

I have used a Metro rad in the past, but I'm looking for a brand new one, and the Metro ones tend to be a bit expensive these days, so looking for an alternative

Have looked at a Cinquecento Rad, but don't know if this would be up to the job for a turbo motor with over 150bhp, plus I can't find any dimensions to plan my fit
There are a couple on ebay for cheap money (under 30 quid), and the sellers have 100% feedback, so I assume their products must be OK

http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/FIAT-CINQUECENTO...#ht_2742wt_1163

http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/FIAT-NEW-RADIATO...#ht_1473wt_1163

But both of these do not appear to have any mounting lugs top and bottom

If anybody has any suggestions I would be grateful, along with the dimensions, and whether they need a separate expansion tank

I'm putting one in my clubman, but the other way round to how you describe. The plumbing is easier that way and you would end up with the highest point in the system being the rad. Probably get air stuck in there and have trouble bleeding it. Pic's of mine here:

We've also put one in the metro van with 174 BHP and so far all seems well, not done many miles yet, but it hasn't got hot yet. It really struggled with the old MPI rad.

Shropshire.

Both golf and astra rads fit well, although i dont have inner wings i think they would fit in a standard front.

There is a pic of a fitted astra rad in my latest build thread.

The old Metro rad had a bleed nipple in the top, so that would be why I had no problem with air stuck in the system

I rather like the way you've got it the other way round, that may be a better option for me

How does the Cinq rad mount, and do you have any dimensions

It mounts like this:

The front ended up like this:

I had to add metal to the drivers side mounting bracket bit and a bit at the top of the valance. Dimensions here:

Thanks Andy

The Cinq rad seems to be a good way to go

What fan are you using and is it easy to mount to the rad/body?

The fan in the pic is an ebay cheepo, but I've got a kenlowe one now. It's held on with these:

We've got a cheepo ebay one on the van and I don't think it's that effective

We're using them on the van to hold the rad to the intercooler too, but they're not really strong enough for that.

I attatched my fan to the radiator with some of these - much cheaper!

Is this ebay link exactly the same as yours as there appear to be two sizes for different aged models

450 x 241 mm
450 x 285 mm
