I was at Harewood hillclimb this weekend, had a great practice day, 4 solid runs ending in a 64.66, which was over 1.5s quicker than the class record.

Sadly, when I came to start the car this morning, the ECU was dead, arse. so my times count for nowt and I was left watching .

I guess I can take that the hard work over the winter has paid off, just need to get it sorted for next weekend to make sure I have the first 998 in the 12s!

Curry, beer and Top Gear will be the order of the night.

Fastest 998 mini in the world? 13.05 1/4 mile 106mph

Wel mod pro dosen't really exist any more. Its "Modified series production" for normal cars, and "Modified Limited Production" for kit-type cars.

So all the records have been re-set, leaving the door open for Moi. Odly enough the current recod is held by Grahame Russle in a Ginetta G15, which isn't really eligable. But as I'm plenty faster, it makes no differance.

I shall return and steal the record later this year.

Very nice car and should be good at Avon, a 998 in the 12's would be a serious achievement.

I run a supercharger and I don't care the TB is on the wrong side.
VEMS + 12 PSI + Liquid Intercooler = Small Bore FUN!

64 seconds on the long course, Steve! Next is avon, then Thorsby Park in september, although I may squeeze a Harewood at the end of august.

Right, had time to analise the failure and to make sure it doesn't happen again. It seems that while charging the battery something odd has gone on, a voltage surge while disconnecting is the most likely scenario. This has blown the surge protection rather cleverly incorporated into the power inputs to protect the ECU from such incidents.

It is an SC ECU, and they have sorted me out quick time with getting it repaired. Should have it sorted tomorrow all ready for Avon.

I have also changed the wiring of the battery charging to remove any chance of a repeat. We don't run an alternator, so need to charge the battery a lot.
