Damn! think ive changed my oil once too many times now, that will teach me, the thread has knackered! Didnt try over tighten it, i think its just worn out basically, and wont even screw in tight without the copper washer :( Previous Engine: 1040cc Morespeed engine, 1275 turbo head T2 Turbo Mirage Manifolds Megajolt

They do wear out for sure - Having a copper washer, which isn't that much softer than Alooominum, and a large 'head' to the bolt is asking for trouble eventually.

yeah helicoil is the way to go, not that difficult to do at all really. somewhere local would probably do it for ?20ish tops.

I've got an M16 tap in the garage if that is big enough to get a thread into what is left? Needs a 14mm base hole to form a thread.............

I Had this problem and as a quick fix managed to get it to stay in with that liquid metal alraldite stuff i know its a bodge but got me goin till i could do it properly.

Yes, but tapping it out to a larger size cures it in situ without the expense doesn't it?
