Hi, got the mini completely done today and was ready for its pre-mot test drive, but going down the alley leading to the main road, when you put your foot down and give it some it dosnt want to pick up and goes burrrrgh and cuts out whenn you stop, which seems to me like its fuel pressure related? as when its on idle it picks up perfectly. I havent checked the fuel pressure as i havent got a gauge, but the guy i brought the engine off was using that regulator with no problem although he was using a metro turbo fuel pump where i am using a mpi tank with punp. would you say that its fuel pressure related? & also where cam i get a guage to test the pressure of it? i was looks on phils site that the pressure should be 4psi on idle then 3-4psi above boost pressure. any thoughts? thanks.

I'd say its probably more down to set up,

Usually if its fuel pressure it gets richer and richer at idle due to fuel pushing past the float, , or it just wont idle at all.

things to check,

oil in the dashpot,
correct plenum to carb gasket (some dont have the holes to the dashpot.
try blocking the part throttle lean off pipe.

okay, ive checked the oil in the dashpot and theres plenty in there, on the lean off pipe should i block it from both sides i.e from manifold and carb?

This might be a silly questioin but, with the ignition on, fuel coming out the regulator should be at a totaly diffrent pressure than coming to the regulator from the tank i,e 4psi? I have a mpi tank/pump and the fuel is pumping to the reg but not at a very strong psi, and is the same coming out of the regulator, even if i turn the screw all the way out/in on the regulator it dosent make a diffrence at all, is my regulator nackerd?

Ive had a look at the diaphram inside the regulator but it looks fine no tears in it, what else could the problem be - mpi fuel pump? im really confused as it runs but when you boot it it just dosnt respond at all, its like the float chamber isnt filling fast enough, but even with the intercooler off etc just being n/a it's still the same either way. arggh!!!
